Hi there to every one

I have done some research about the feature into Futurepinball version 1.9.1.20091231 that is called Pinball Test Roller X and Y, that make the player controling the ball in game.

I have tested it into a Windows XP 32bits (English OS), Windows 7 64bits (French OS), Windows 7 64bits (English OS) and Windows 10 (French OS).

By my own comparing of the Windows versions and Operating System Language, i have noted that Windows that are in (English) "not talking about english/french keyboard" that the feature into (Preferences) then (Game Keys and Controls); that the Pinball Roller and Test Roller X Y work. But into a (Windows French OS) these function dont seem to work.

Also doing some search on Google, it seem that this feature work only on a (Windows English OS) but dont know why in a (Windows French OS) that it dont work??. But to be sure for peoples using this feature into Futurepinball software and version. It would be nice that peoples as my self do some testing also, compare and give there comments here.

Creating some Futurepinball games in real nice, but not being able to control the ball manualy; make the testing real difficult. Because the creator must play the game not controlling the ball at all to test.

For putting the feature "On" to test and control the ball into (Game Keys and Controls) for peoples not kwowing how to do it. Into this menu you simply "checkmark/enable" the option (Mouse). Then the option "Pinball Roller" you can choose the option (Left), wich make the user when he/she click the "Left Mouse Button"; control and uncontrol (On/Off) the ball. After there is the option "Test Roller X" option for it (Left-Right), making the user move the ball left or right; by moving the mouse left or right. The option "Test Roller Y" option for it (Up-Down), making the user move the ball up or down; by moving the mouse up or down.

I hope that theses infos will help Futurepinball game creators?

A+

I use Windows 10 now but had no problem using the roller ball when I had Windows 7. I live in the United States. We had a problem a few years ago with users of Windows 7 N experiencing some tables crash that use swapable textures in the script (a new BAM command). Windows 7 N is a special European version of Windows without the Windows Media Player. Ravarcade revised BAM so it works now with 7 N. It is the only time I have ever heard of European users experiencing a generic problem with FP.

Are you using Windows 7 N? If you are not sure, did it come with Windows Media Player when you bought it? Rav fixed the BAM issue but maybe there is something else.

Popotte, the link says I am not authorized to open it.

You might try installing this:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=16546

As far as I know, 7 N is the same as 7 except for the media pack. Maybe if you install it, it might start working?

But I put the file on PinSimDB, Resources, Other, DInput8.
Just unzip the file in yoyr FP directory.

Nope i dont have Windows 7 N (European). When i have tested it, i have test it with the original last version of Futurepinball. This without some softwares as BAM and without some addons as Physics X. Because when peoples download the Futurepinball software, they download "the basic" without the rest. So testing the "basic software" on various operating systems, indicating if it's 64bits or 32bits; also indicating if it's as (English/French/European/etc. Operating System) might give some hints on the subject for the many peoples that use FP.

Buts it great for peoples that have Windows 7 N (European) to know that it work, i suppose it's 64bits? By comparing the data's it can help Futurepinball users to know if on there OS, that the Pinball Test Roller X and Y should work or not. It can also make peoples when they buy a computer to know if the Futurepinball Pinball Test Roller shoudl work or not.

Also if it does not work and later on that it work, the FP user can say what he/she did (step by step) to make it work.

Thank's for your reply's.

Popotte the latest file i see in resources is named:
DInput8

I will later try the file on a Windows 10 64bits (French OS). It's quite possible because that Futurepinball is old, that new operating system dont have some functions or softwares integrated into the operating system.

Could you please add on Pinsimdb.org the descriptions of the file and the instructions like (put it into FP main directory); the file should "maybe" help you with the (Pinball Roller) as example. Or what so ever infos to help beginners.

It's not a Future Pinball problem. dinput8.dll is only (for XP and 7, don't know for 10) on Windows english versions.

OK... Sorry, dear George.
So the post:
Concerning ball roller, Titanic4 posted that on VPForums:

Sorry for this bump, but i have found solution. All you need to do is to copy dinput8.dll file from english Windows XP to future pinball installation folder in non-english version of your Windows. If you don't have english Windows XP then you'll only need to download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?j0il0i93t3lk9ig . After you have downloaded it move it where you have installed Future Pinball(where the main EXE is) and manual ball roller will be brought to life. I have tested it in Polish version of Windows Vista and Windows 7 and it works flawlessly.

And it works!
